"Strong Schools. Strong Families. Strong Community."

Serving the Rowan-Salisbury School District (North) with integrity, transparency, and a focus on every child’s success.

About Chariel "Minnette" Dye

Chariel Dye brings years of experience advocating for educational empowerment, fiscal responsibility, and opportunities that uplift all students.

She is running for the Rowan-County School Board of Education. Chariel is 49 years old and have been a resident of Salisbury, NC for 24 years. She is a 1994 graduate of South Iredell High School in Statesville, NC. During high school, education became a priority so she began to take Early Childhood classes so that she could pursue a career in educating our young. She started working in Early Childhood centers learning how to teach and work with many youths and their families.

Chariel learned how important education is even to an infant as they learn smiles, laughs, voices, sounds, colors and words. So, she decided to become an Early Childhood Educator receiving her associate's degree in early childhood, a bachelor's degree in early childhood education administration and a master’s degree in education with a Specialization in Early Childhood. She worked in different childcare facilities as a teacher or director.

While volunteering in the community, Chariel worked with the organizations Team Up Tuesday, Man Up Monday and Woman Up Wednesdays. Team Up Tuesday was an organization started in Salisbury, NC in 2017 by the late Rev. Latasha Wilks. These organizations volunteer in the local area schools in collaboration with Community, School and Teacher Partnerships. Upon her passing, Chariel's non-profit organization, Great Women and Men United, Inc, continued Team Up Tuesday in her honor. She is also the marketing director of The Tiara N. Allison Scholarship Foundation in Statesville, NC, where in collaboration with Doris Allison, we have given out over two thousand dollars in scholarships for high school students entering college.

Priorities

Chariel is ready to champion policies that support teachers, strengthen resources, and ensure safe, innovative learning environments. Her priorities include:

1. High-Quality Education
Parents and students want strong academic outcomes, skilled teachers, and consistent learning standards. Minnette addresses this by advocating for evidence-based instructional practices, supporting teacher development, and prioritizing policies that keep academic excellence at the center of every decision. Her vision includes strengthening curriculum alignment, improving classroom resources, and ensuring every child—regardless of background—has access to a high-quality education.

2. Innovative Learning Opportunities
Families value a district that embraces technology, creative learning models, and forward-thinking strategies that prepare students for the future. Minnette supports expanding STEM access, integrating technology responsibly, and encouraging hands-on, project-based learning that builds real-world skills. She champions innovation not as a trend, but as a necessary tool for student engagement and long-term success.

3. Strong Student Support & Resources
Students thrive when they have personalized support, safe environments, and access to mental-health, academic, and social resources. Minnette is committed to strengthening those supports by collaborating with educators, families, and community partners to ensure each student receives the guidance they need. Her focus includes advocating for smaller class sizes where possible, improving counseling and mentoring programs, and reinforcing the whole-child approach that Rowan-Salisbury families value.
